About Ranikhet
RANIKHET
Ranikhet is a tranquil hill station located in Almora district of Uttarakhand.
As per the local legend, Queen Padmini married to King Sukherdev (the local ruler) was so enchanted by the beauty of the place that she requested a palace to be built for her. The king conceded and the place came to be called Ranikhet – Queen’s meadow.
The town had descended into oblivion when the Britishers discovered it and set about rebuilding it. They established an Army recruitment center and to this date Ranikhet remains the Kumaon Regimental headquarters of the Indian Army.
It also served as an erstwhile summer capital for the British, offering them respite from soaring mercury during the peak of Indian summers.
Set in the lap of Kumaon hills, Ranikhet has an average altitude of 6000 ft. Unlike many other hill stations, it has been unaffected by rampant construction and commercialization making it a haven for a tourist looking for unadulterated time with nature.
While on one hand, it offers immense peace and solitude to a city-worn traveler looking for a quiet escapade, on the other, it gives an array of exhilarating opportunities for adventure enthusiasts in the form of trekking, hiking trails, cycling, rock climbing and many more. If you happen to be religiously inclined and looking for a divine experience – there are numerous shrines located in the most exquisite settings of soaring deodars and pines with panoramic view of Himalayas.
The meandering roads winding up to spectacular views, the old world and charming colonial bungalows, countless fruit-laden orchards and stupendous scenic hiking trails leading to ancient shrines has the potential to enliven the senses of the most jaded city visitor.
Ranikhet is a must visit for its unspoilt natural charm.

I had got in touch with etaratrips to organize a trip for a gp of 18 kids in Hyderabad. They not only ensured that they did it within my budget but they were extremely professional, helpful and ensured all my requirements were met to the T. I would recommend your services to everyone who is hoping for a comfortable, hassle feel trip handled professionally with a personal touch.

After the unbearable heat of Delhi when one enters the Kumaon hills only one thing comes to the mind… Beauty at its best… The stay at a wooden cottage with the view of Majestic Nanda Devi snow covered from the window is divine. A trip with family is over but memories of the beauty of nature, the hospitality and the stay all together was amazing. Next visit for sure with friends…
